Once the job has been accepted between the client and grafter it is over to you to get the work completed successfully. The job will remain in your Dashboard in the ‘Accepted’ status so you can find the details again and receive payments for the job.
Because the client reviews the grafter after the job, which is added to your profile, it is important that the job is completed satisfactorily. Otherwise you may get a bad review and find it harder to get future work.
Here are a few pointers to help make sure the work goes smoothly:
Before You Start
- Ensure the start times and location are agreed and understood (use the Chat service to confirm)
- Ensure you're clear on any necessary work clothes, tools and materials you need to take to the job
- If required by the employer, ensure that you take the necessary identification, paperwork and licences
- Take your phone and keep an eye on Chat so the employer can contact you
- Conduct yourself with dignity and do a great job!
Tools and Equipment
It’s down to the client to confirm but as a rule of thumb, you shouldn't be expected to bring anything other than sensible work clothes relevant to the job.
Unless otherwise agreed between you and the client, Grafter defines a 'working day', which the day rate applies to, as 7 working hours excluding breaks (breaks to be agreed with client).
Make sure that you agree the daily start time, finish time and breaks with the client upfront to avoid any misunderstandings. We recommend you do this on 'Chat' so it is documented and confirmed 'in writing'.
Clients don't need to pay for travel time unless this has been specifically agreed with the client. You have specified the area where you are prepared to work in your profile, so you should be able to get to the job in time for the start of the day and at your own cost (unless otherwise agreed with the client).
Remember, it is your responsibility to comply with the law, if you are a grafter this includes ensuring that you are entitled and eligible to work. This includes, but is not limited to, relevant residency and work permit requirements. Employers may want to check these before you start work so take necessary paperwork with you on the day.
There may also be tax implications which need to be considered depending on your circumstances.
Health and Safety
The client is responsible for Health and Safety in the work environment and needs to make sure relevant HSE measures are followed.
If you are unhappy with the Health and Safety measured employed they should take it up with the client directly.
